A new movie genre is successfully installed into malayalam film by
Ranjith through  Palerimanikyam. A thriller never requires great deal
of techno-babble to be involving or complex, it is the plot that makes
it heavy and once again Ranjith proved it. It is crafted in such a way
that it demands great attention and thought which leaves more
questions than answers , which makes it unusual from other genres. Mis-
en-scene technique greatly worked for this film which indicates the
flow of fresh air into malayalam movie.

Plot
Haridas (Mammootty), a private detective investigating the murder of a
young woman Manikyam, who lived more than 50 years ago. Haridas
assisted by Sarayu Sharma (Gowrie Munjal), a criminologist, comes to
his native village to solve this mystery which has a close connection
with his past. How he solve this puzzle makes the whole plot.

Performance
Mammooty once again proved his flexibility in changing to different
character . Ahmed haji stands out with stunning performance as a
womanizer and a brutal landlorder. This characeter will always be
there in the list of best roles of this great actor.
Swetha Menon was simply awesome as cheeru . Pokkan played by a newbie
is a gift to malayalam industry who did some scintillating
performance.
Gowrie Munjal as sarayu is a let down, a pseudo character which
doesnot suits the plot.Others handled their parts well .

Technical Side
Visually it is breathtaking, with broad sweeping images interspersed
with numerous gritty close-ups of tragedy and the backing by Shareth
and Bijipal syncs perfectly with the plot.Intelligent mix of color
tones is used to describe past and present sequences.

See it, expect flaws , but see it expecting something unusual ,
something about human complexity,something new  and you will not be
disappointed.
